A Welcoming View: Brightformat Brings Visual Identity to GVSU’s Kaufman Interfaith Institute

At Brightformat, we believe that great graphics do more than decorate a space—they tell a story, create a mood, and communicate purpose. That’s exactly what we achieved in our recent project with the Kaufman Interfaith Institute at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), an organization dedicated to creating a campus environment where students, faculty, and staff of all religious, spiritual, and secular identities feel a true sense of belonging.

From Testing to Installation:

A Seamless Process

Our work began with on-site color testing and precise measurements of every window to ensure an accurate and flawless fit. Once we had the green light on colors and sizing, our production team got to work.

Most of the graphics were printed CMYK on white window film, delivering bright, bold colors that really pop from the exterior view. These prints added much-needed visual energy while also providing interior privacy—a critical component for a space that supports reflection, conversation, and connection.

Graphics That Last (But Not Forever)

Because we used optically clear, removable window film, the graphics can be taken down cleanly when it’s time to refresh or update the look—no residue, no damage, and no hassle.

Solving for the Stairwell:

A Smart Printing Solution

One unique design challenge involved a section of windows within a tall stairwell—an area with no access for installing graphics on one side of the glass. To solve this, we used a specialized approach with optically clear window film.

By printing CMYK/White/CMYK in a single pass, we created a “sandwich” effect with an opaque white layer between two graphics. This allowed both images to read correctly from their respective sides, without any show-through, while also eliminating the need to install on the hard-to-reach side of the glass. Smart design meets smart production.
